Scientricity: Energizing Science Clubbers for Sustainable Energy

Filipino month had passed and it’s time to turn a new page of the school calendar. We’re in the so-called “BER months” so… ADVANCE MERRY CHRISTMAS! But hey! Its September and we will move on to the celebration of Science Month.
The first time I read the theme of this celebration, I wonder how it comes to be like this. Honestly, I can’t capture a vivid picturesque about this statement. Even just a glimpse of idea, nothing was inserted to my poor memory. It’s so complicated. I don’t get the point immediately. Until one afternoon, a classmate told me the realm of the theme and this is how I understand it…
SCIENTRICITY - a fused version of Science and Electricity. Beside from financial and other economic issues that we’re suffering, time will come that energy, which we use in our daily lives will be scarce sooner. As they say, nothing is permanent in this world. Now, each of us consumes a lot more energy per day. In everything we do, we take energy to be able to move. We keep on abusing without considering the sake of others. If we keep on consuming, maybe just a few years from now, expect that nothing will be left for the next generation. So, this is the message which the theme depicts, CONSERVE ENERGY. And each of us can have a share. That’s why we must activate our resourcefulness especially in the field of Science. Let’s get ourselves be involved in a change for the betterment of the future.
It’s quite odd isn’t it? It seems the terms used are unbelievable yet you don’t only know it conveys something addressed to the whole world. There’s a deep meaning behind every single word that composes it.
Whatever it is, how it is stated, it doesn’t matter. The only important thing is that we can internalize and we can visualize what message the theme imposes. CONSERVE ENERGY FOR THE FUTURE GENERATION. Hand in hand, we can bring a change. The theme urges us for an action. An action to make a change. Dare to act. NOW!

All-in-One: A teacher, A hero...EVERYTHING!

TEACHERS. Who would have known that they would be one of our greatest heroes in this generation? The teachers who inspired and take a vital part in changing the lives of students like me.
Speaking of the teachers day, SHE automatically pop up out of my mind. I really don't know but this teacher mesmerized my soul a year ago. She was my mentor when I am in my Junior year.
For what I am now and what will I be in the future, a huge part was because of her. I was so impressed by her words of wisdom. I can't take the day without a piece of quote from her. Yeah, its really weird but to tell you the truth, I jot down notes when she's talking. My classmates and my friends would only laugh at me. But that's okay. At least, I am learning. Even though how long it would be, I listen with an open heart and patience.
She inculcated discipline strictly which I admired the most. We should learn to make the room clean, to be in school early, to pass all our requirements punctually and of course to be honest. Whenever there's a problem, serious or not, she's ready to act on it. You can run to her every time. She render service at her best.
She's very supportive too! During our practice on the different contested activities, she's always in our side. She suggested everything she knows to make the play the best. She doesn't want to see us the loser. She's so generous that she'd willing to contribute some amount of money for our props and other materials. She's always present watching our whole performance. Sitting in the first row, you could see the sparkling of her eyes, cheering and waving us "GOODLUCK!"
Ma'am, I'm so thankful you'd been my teacher. If ever I could fly back in time, I would like to be your student again. For the advises, for comforting me, for the efforts, for being there always, for everything you've done, THANK YOU SO MUCH.  Those things you've imparted will be my weapons when I'll go up to a more crucial level of life. I DO REALLY SALUTE YOU! :)

"Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagkapilipino"

No definite language. No cooperation. No strong foundation. Imagine what kind of country will be inherited by the next generation? Just a weak, dependent, ready to trash and nothing to be proud of. Can we attain the progress we aim for? Will Philippines be worth living?

For the past 333 years of being colonized by the Spaniards, we, the clueless Filipinos are just functioning as slaves, treated like animals, and plainly underestimated. So long we are leaving just to serve and satisfy these stone-hearted conquerors. We tend to fight and claim our rights, but how? Few Flipinos versus thousands of Spaniards, can we defeat them? Until there came these brave heroes and heroines; those with true hearts and was fused with the use of ONE LANGUAGE. They brought up our freedom.

Since then, as one of our identity, WIKANG FILIPINO was established. An instrument descended for us to continue building a peaceful and productive country. It was hard I guess. Freedom is not something easy to get. It is to be fought of. As well as Wikang Filipino, it is not simply gained just like freedom.

Because of Wikang Filipino, we were known as real Filipinos. We could converse, we are able to understand each other, we are free to tell others what we want to. If we could get the message clearly, then we can all be friends. If we are all friends, there'll be no war, no hindrance for success. A great country will soon flourish with that simple language.

Let's start in ourselves. Let's have one voice that would unite all of us like in the past. And our union will be the strongest foundation of all. A foundation of a better country, best-ever Pearl Of the Orient, Philippines.

She's the One

Fifteen years of breathing and experiencing happiness. Fifteen years of tasting the sweetness and bitterness of life. Fifteen years of exploring great new ideas. Fifteen years of savoring this Earth's delight. FIFTEEN YEARS... for some, maybe it would not be that long enough to spend it up but for me, it's a matter of time I would cherish in my period of existence. For sure, I'm not here if SHE didn't let me too. She is the reason why until now, I am able to enjoy the beauty of life. SHE'S MY HERO... A hero I'll always be proud of.

Way back 2001 where I had to enter the world of education. She's there, always ready to guide me. Every morning, she'd accompany me to school. She'd hold my hand, swaying to and fro, together we walked. Throughout the day, she stays in my classroom, bringing up my meryenda, checking my funny and weird artworks, and she'd cheer me up too! She'd comfort me when I'm down. She's willing to render her time to help me with my homeworks and to teach me how to read.

Whenever I celebrate my birthdays, she'd always do her best to satisfy me. Even though sometimes she had no budget, or there were more important things to be paid off, she'd still manage to give me a simple yet unforgetable birthday bash every child would wish. She'd always try to find ways to every problem in the house.

We encounter misunderstandings too. Not only ones but many times. Yet, she still forgives me with all the faults I made. She would either buy me sweets or girly stuffs if she's sorry for what she'd done bad. She can't take a quarrel with me for a long span of time.

She understands why I'm so busy especially that I'm now in high school. If I need to go to school for Saturday or Sundays, she'd let me. She rises up in the morning just to cook breakfast and to prepare everything for us. She even does household chores even though we have a baby brother she's going to take care of. She always produce everything we need. She treats us equally and it breaks her heart to see us in bad condition.

Until now, she didn't change. She never  fails to make me smile. She always make my heart melt. Her deeds, her efforts, her sacrifices, the way she nurtured us, the moments we've shared together, I will keep them as my treasures. When I'm with her, the world comes alive and everything's right.

Maybe I'm not the best you've dreamed to be. I know I'd been reckless of everything. But behind all what you see in me, here'a heart letting you to know... I LOVE YOU MOTHER! And even though I always make you mad, you're still th one I owe for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for everything. You're my hero! :)

P.S. Happy Birthday to my mom on October 5 :)

Echoes Inside Me :)

Being in the Information and Communication technology (ICT) class for three consecutive years had been a lot beneficial to me. And now, I'm again included in this class for the fourth year with my able and lovely mentor, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz.

For the span of almost three months, I have gained so many lessons that lead me to accumulate bright ideas which will definitely be my advantage in the future. It ranges from the History of Internet and its uses; the famous personalities involved in the evolution of Internet like Marc Andreessen, Tim Berners-Lee, Vinton Cerf, Robert Kahn, Jonathan Postel, William Torres, and Rodolfo Villarica; the different Internet services like e-mail, information publishing and research, group discussion, long distance computing, internet voice (VOIP), Wide Area Information Services (WAIS), and World Wide Web; major components of the Internet; until we were introduced in the world of Blogging.Guess what? Having this so called Class Blog gave an ambiance to my entire ICT life. Because of this, I can share my insights to all other internet users around the globe. At first, I thought blogging was a difficult task but as time goes by, posting in the blog makes me feel alright and happy. What a delightful feeling! :)

So far, I haven't encountered problems yet. Our teacher was awesome and our class was a lively one. The way Mrs. Vera Cruz handle and impart knowledge to us was synchronized. I understand every topic very much and I'd always love to hear those lessons she shares.

Moving on, I will try to sharpen my memory regarding on the dates. I know I got low score during our quiz in the history of internet. I got mentally blocked. So I do hope that next time we will have exams on dates, there will be improvement on my score.

Our first grading period will end soon. Our exam came nearer and nearer. I hope I will get a high score.

How I wish the next grading would be as marvelous like the first one! :)

Feedback to P-Noy's SONA

"A resilient and dynamic economy resting on the foundations of good governance is the best defense against global uncertainty." - President Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III.

A number of days had passed since our very own President Benigno Aquino delivered his State of the Nation's Address (SONA) during the joint session of the 15th Congress last July 23, 2012 at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

Honestly speaking, I never heard any of President  Aquino's SONA directly from any media resources. Whenever our teachers require us to submit reactions regarding his speech, I simply rely on Google. It's not the reaction itself I'm going to copy-paste (I'm not fond of copy-paste reactions). I'm only interested with the composition of the SONA. It's because I do better understand if I read it rather than hearing it for a long span of time.

It's not anymore new to our ears if Mr. President would consume too many hours on his talk. Of course there's always a part wherein he'll elaborate all his accomplishments, his programs to be continued, the rise and fall of our economy and most importantly, the anomalies of the past administration. But what keeps on hunting my mind is that, if he was able to broadcast all those things, why can't I feel the CHANGE he used to promised on the very first part of the election? I mean, yes he may have done the work or some of his programs but, where were the locations of his programs? Were they intended for Manila residents only? I have not yet seen or heard in the news he had projects on provinces like Ilocos. He keeps on chanting, "KUNG WALANG CORRUPT, WALANG MAHIRAP" but until now. . . poverty still dominates the Filipino people. We still have so many debts from other countries. Do we attain progress with this? If not now, when will we feel the Change he wants to spare with us? Until when we'll suffer this kind of country?

I thought he listened to our cries. But I can sense I was wrong. Not all of the Filipino people were benefited.

"Pagkain Ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong Ihain"

Nutritionists claim that . . . "WHAT WE EAT, IS WHAT WE ARE"

Our physical health is maintained by that which we eat; for that which you put in your body, affects all of your organs and tissues. a wrong diet, or an indulged appetite of a good one, greatly hinders mental and physical efficiency. An improper diet not only injures our bodies, but keeps our minds from functioning as well as they should.

VEGETABLES, as we all know, have the richest source for the vitamins and minerals we MUST obtain. They have the greatest amount of energy our body needs, especially the green and leafy ones. They contain nutrients which keeps our systems in good condition to function properly. They are the BEST among other foods we eat. Some also have medicinal properties effective in curing illnesses.

Along these vitamins are as follows:

1. VITAMIN A

      - keeps mocus membranes healthy thus it protects against infections, even in infants.

2. VITAMIN B COMPLEX

      - protects and helps heart muscles, brain growth, nervous system, peristalsis, red blood count  and circulation.
      - works with other B VITAMINS in energy metabolism.

3. VITAMIN C (Ascorbic Acid)

      - vital in the treatment of lengthy list of physical disorders and diseases.
      - needed for production of COLLAGEN (Cell Cement), the main protein of the body.

4. VITAMIN D (Ergosterol, Calciferol, Viosterol)

      - needed for the absorption of calcium, phosphorous and other minerals in the digestive tract.

5. VITAMIN E (Tocopherols)
      - antioxidant in protecting against heart diseases, cancer and strokes.
      - oxygenates the cell and tissues, reduces the need for oxygen.

6.  VITAMIN F (Essential Fatty Acids)

      - reduces cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
      - reduce risk of blood clot formation.

Without vitamins, you would quickly die. They are crucial to all life functions. They are also called co-enzymes because they work with enzymes and enable them to trigger all body processes.

A lot of benefits we could get from them. Sad to say, others still hate vegetables and they rather prefer the meat products. Like the small children. Most of them are the ones encountering diseases and infections because they choose junk foods and sweets over the nutritious ones. Their immune system then, becomes weak and they mow have less energy to perform their daily task.

Do what it takes to live right and you will be richly repaid later on. It is worth any convenience to have good health. Radiant health is a reward worth any price.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH, EAT VEGETABLES :)
